Is Snoke Darth Plagueis? Or is he something else? - Star Wars

Is Snoke Darth Plagueis? Or is he a creation of Plagueis? Or was he only a normal human that was Palpatine's apprentice and end up being transformed and deformated due to some sort of dark power source? Let's discuss about these theories:

Is Snoke Darth Plagueis?

There is a chance that Snoke turns out to be Plagueis, after all, we know that the Siths have always been obsessed with immortality, and we can presume that Plagueis was no different in that aspect, especially considering how interested he seemed to be in saving people from death and creating life, according to Palpatine's story in Episode III.

But then we must question ourselves: what's the use in creating life? It's possible he could have some type of  God complex and, consequently, conquering the ability of creating life would likely make him feel like a God. But, looking at practical reasons, what's the big deal of doing it?

The only real reason I can think of is that Plagueis wanted to create himsef a new body, one with more potential then his current one. Not only this gives theoretically the ability of live forever, since he would be able to have a new body when the current one was too old, but he would consecutively become more and more powerful by creating himself a better host each time.

Then there's the part of the story which Palpatine claims that Plagueis' apprentice (which we believe to be Palpatine or someone close to him) killed his Master in his sleep..........

But was Plagueis really that dumb? I doubt it.........what if he was wasn't sleeping, but only appeared to be sleeping, simply because his consciousness had already left that body and entered in a new one? So, what the apprentice really did was to "kill" an empty body.............

I think it was all part of a plan: Plagueis had been slowly transferring his consciousness and his powers into a new body. And Plagueis new that his apprentice would notice he was weakening and would take the opportunity to kill him, and become the Master of Sith. Then, the apprentice would conquer the galaxy for him, while he waited in the dark to take rule when the time was right.

But if Snoke is actually Plagueis in a bew body, what are going to be the explanations for the things that are against this theory?

First, we have been told that Snoke is going to be a brand-new character..........

However, that doesn't prevent the theory from being true, after all, Plagueis would be in a new body and in essence it would still be a brand-new character.

Second, there is the fact that the producers have stated that there is no Sith in The Force Awakens and this would theoretically prevent the speculation from being true, since Plagueis was a Sith.

However, it's possible that in his new form, Plagueis doesn't consider himself a Sith anymore, but something different. Maybe he thinks he has transcendent being just a Sith, because he has conquered immortality.

Third, we know that Lawrence Kasdan, one of the writers of The Force Awakens, didn't even seem to know who Darth Plagueis was when he was asked about it.

But that doesn't mean anything, maybe who Snoke is wasn't yet decided in that phase of Episode VIII.

And, finally, there is the fact that Plagueis was supposed to be a Muun (a thin, tall humanoid species from the frozen world of Scipio), which Snoke doesn't appear to be.

A typical Muun

But we must recall that Plagueis made himself a new body and, so, he could have made it look whatever he wanted to. Consequently, it's a brand-new character, with a new body, new features and so on.

Is Snoke a creation of Plagueis?

The conversation between Palpatine and Anakin in Episode III implied that the latter was Darth Plagueis' creation............so, it's possible that it turns out to be true. Assuming that, it's possible that he wasn't the only one created by the powerful Sith Lord..........

It's possible that Snoke was another creation of Plagueis, who was probably trying to create the perfect loyal apprentice, since he wanted to replace his current one (which we believe to be Palpatine or someone related to him), who was becoming too powerful and would probably kill him someday.

I would say that Snoke and the current apprentice fought at some point, and this was the confrontation that left Snoke deformed. Snoke was probably created long before Anakin, and was tested to fight with the current apprentice and take his place.........but Snoke end up not being so strong and, consequently, was defeated in the fight and, later, was abandoned by his creator, who gave up on him.

So, Plagueis tried again and made Anakin........but how he did that? I mean, the only thing his mother said about the pregnancy was that it came out of nowhere........

Well, Plagueis (or his apprentice) probably kidnapped Anakin's mom, made her unconscious and made a midichlorian conception in her and, later, she was left in her house, probably in her bed and when she woke up she just presumed that she had been sleeping throughout the day. So, she just kept living her life and, when she found out about the pregnancy, she thought it came out of nowhere........

Anyway, Plagueis' plan was to secretly watch Anakin growing up and, when the time was right, he would approach the boy and try to convert him........but Plagueis was killed in the process by his apprentice, who we strongly suspect to be Palpatine (the book "Plagueis" confirmed that, but it isn't considered official canon anymore, that's why we can't be sure of it), since the latter seems to have accomplished his Master's plan: he secretly watched Anakin and, when it was convenient, he converted the boy to the dark side.

Meanwhile, Snoke was probably angry for being defeated and abandoned, so he decided to follow his own path and became another type of dark force user. He probably created the Knights of Ren during this time and worked hard on becoming more powerful and stronger.........

I think it's a pretty nice theory, especially because this could help explain how Snoke turned Ben Solo to the dark side in the first place. He may have told the truth about his grandfather, how Anakin was created by Plagueis as well as he was, making him almost a brother of Anakin, in a weird sort of way......... So, Ben probably saw Snoke as a powerful version of his grandfather, that's why he felt so compelled to betray his family and choose the dark side.........

Was Snoke Palpatine's apprentice? And was he a normal human before being transformed?

We have a pretty good idea of how Snoke looks like, thanks to seing him, even it is in a hologram, a few times in The Force Awakens. He is thin and has a most human-looking face, but full of scars and deformations. We don't know how tall he is, because the hologram seems to be out of scale..........

So, either he isn't really a human or, if he is, he had been transformed in some way........maybe because of some Sith Power or ritual that changed his physical appearance? Or maybe he gained those scars and deformations in a fight or suffering an accident of some kind?

We also know that Snoke is the Supreme Leader of the First Order, a regime very similar to the Empire, or, better saying, a regime that was formed by the remains of the Empire.......what can we take from this? Well, if he is the leader of a regime built on the remains of the Empire, so maybe Snoke used to be an important member of it.......

After all, it looks like a lot of the structure of the Empire was kept intact. For example, the First Order's symbol is very similar to the Empire's.

First Order's symbol (the red one) and Empire's symbol (the one in black and white)

And there are also stormtroopers, a Starkiller Base (which is very similar to the Death Star, but more powerful), a Supreme Leader that controls everything (such as Palpatine did), and so on. That might imply that Snoke, for the most part, was on board with everything Palpatine was doing in the Empire

We also know, thanks to The Force Awakens book, that Snoke witnessed the rise and fall of the Empire. So, he is at least 65 years old, or even older. He also seems to have an inside perspective of this rise and fall and we know this because at some point of the book, he tells Kylo Ren that wasn't poor strategy or arrogance that brought down the Empire, but rather sentiment.

This shows that he agreed with the way Palpatine ran things and blames Vader's one moment of weakness on its downfall. Besides, that implies that he somehow knows exactly what happened in the confrontation between Vader, Luke and Palpatine. Something only Luke and the ones very close to him (such as Leia and Han Solo) should know about..........so, how Snoke knew what happened? That was actually Vader who killed the Emperor to save his son?

Some people might say that Kylo Ren told Snoke about what happened.......well, according to the book Bloodline, the truth was kept hidden from Ben Solo about his grandfather for most of his life, until it became public knowledge that Vader was Leia's father, roughly six years before the events of The Force Awakens. When this revelation came out, Leia was forced to send a message to her son, who was still training with Luke at the time, telling him he is Vader's grandson. And, at this point, Luke probably told him everything that happened, including the fact that Vader was redeemed and became Anakin again.

So, was Kylo Ren the one who told everything to Snoke? I highly doubt it, because in The Force Awakens Leia blames Snoke for turning her son to the dark side. In the book version, Leia says that somehow she knew that Snoke had been watching him from the shadows for years..........and why he did that? Because he knew long before the rest of the galaxy that Luke and Leia were the children of Darth Vader, making Ben Solo his grandson and, consequently, he had a great potential of becoming a powerful dark side user.

But if no one told Snoke, how would he know exactly what happened in the fight in the second Death Star? Well, what if he was actually there in the Death Star, watching everything quiet from the shadows? What if he was there because he was a secret apprentice of Palpatine? And if that's the case, who Snoke could be?

Well, he could be Galli, a character introduced to us in the Aftermath books. Galli was a young guy discovered by Palpatine a couple of years before the Clone Wars began. Palpatine had a precious spot in Jakku, we don't know what it is, but he said it was significant.........

As we can see from the excerpt, Palpatine met this guy named Galli, whom he charged of protecting the spot..........and what happens to this boy isn't entirely known yet, and this whole mystery might be because this guy will turn out to be Snoke.

The book doesn't make any remarks about Galli being not human, or being deformed and full of scars..........and there is a great chance that Galli wasn't a Force-sensitive person when he met Palpatine. But we can't forget that he spent too many years in the precious spot in Jakku and maybe there was a strong dark power source hidden somewhere in the place, that's why it was so important for Palpatine to begin with. And maybe spending too many years in contact with this dark power source transformed Galli, making him very powerful and deforming his physical appearance.

That's it guys, I hope you like the theories. I think the three of them make sense and suit the story............and what do you think about it? Do you have a favorite one? Tell us in the comments below!

Darth Kisses,

Tati.
